Michael Webb's Biography and Resume

Michael Webb, of Rockville, South Carolina, is currently in his fifth year of the Architectural Engineering Program concentrating in the Construction Management Option. He will be graduating from the Pennsylvania State University in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering and minor in Military Studies.  Michael is a Midshipman with the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) on campus and will be accepting a commission as a Naval Officer upon graduation.

As a Midshipman with NROTC, Michael has spent each of his summers serving active duty training and working towards his commission.  His summer training has provided him with many unique opportunities.  In 2006 Michael spent his summer aboard an aircraft carrier, the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) steaming from Tokyo to Sapporo, Japan and all over the Pacific.  In 2007 he served aboard the destroyer USS Stethem (DDG-63) which took him all over the South Pacific to Townsville, Australia and Guam.  Most recently, this past summer Michael was an intern at Naval Air Station Patuxent River with the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School where he had exposure to over 15 different Naval and Marine Corps airframes.

On campus Michael is greatly involved outside the realms of his Architectural Engineering studies in various aspects of The Pennsylvania State University.  His involvement with Alliance Christian Fellowship inspired him to play a crucial role in the lives of incoming freshman by leading them in bible study for two years.  In addition, his involvement in NROTC provided him with the opportunity to assume command of his Midshipmen Battalion this past year where he was directly responsible and in charge of over 150 of his fellow Midshipmen.  He’s a recent initiate of several Honor societies within the University and was the recipient of both the Lt. Michael McCombie Award for Excellence in Character & Servitude and the U.S. Navy League Award for Exemplary Leadership through Unfailing Character.  This year Michael looks to continue his service to the University with involvement in the Penn State Dance MaraTHON, the largest student run philanthropy in the world, as a captain in the Operations committee.

In late November, Michael was selected for the Pilot program as a Student Naval Aviator. In May he will commission as a Naval Officer, transfer down to Pensacola Florida, and begin Naval Flight Training, the 2 year program preparing Michael for a career as a Navy Pilot.
